4. Businesses that wisely make use of content marketing will be rewarded with a higher search engine ranking

Content marketing and SEO are a truly great pair when it comes to internet marketing. When there is high-quality content, this will attract links, increase shares, and generate other brand-building signals for a good boost in ranking.

When talking about the factors to consider for a good search engine ranking, keep in mind that long-form, high-quality content with a great number of social media likes or shares consistently has the highest ranking. For some reason, it is proven true that the longer the content is, the more attention it gets from social media. So whether social signals play an important role in search rankings or not, in-depth and high-quality content is still something you should strive to provide. Why? Because whether you like it or not, it will always have an indirect effect on your business.

5. Guest blogging will be restored, and it could be one of the most effective content marketing strategies this year

Earlier in 2014, Google’s Matt Cutts said that the use of guest blogging as a content marketing strategy is something that marketers should give less attention to. He even pronounced it as “done,” drawing conclusions from marketers that they should completely stay away from guest blogging. However, because of the misinterpretations of his comments, Cutts clarified that his announcement against guest blogging was just an attempt to discourage marketers from making use of guest blogging solely as a link building strategy. He said that there are lots of other reasons to do guest blogging such as branding, exposure, community, increased reach, and the like.

On the other hand, the smarter ones in the marketing field are knowledgeable of legitimate guest blogging, citing it as an excellent and relevant contribution to big-time publishers. Contrary to what Cutts is suggesting, smart marketers know the real value of guest blogging, and they are aware that there are many other benefits of guest blogging apart from building links. With that being said, this is a good year for guest blogging to regain its popularity.

6. There will be an increase in content marketing budgets in most industries

Based on the 2014 B2B Content Marketing Benchmark report, 58% of B2B marketers are planning to allocate more budget for content marketing, and 10% of them plan a significant increase. Many business owners and marketers are witnesses to the many benefits of content marketing, which has convinced them to earmark larger amounts for it.

The investment will be put towards various types of content such as blog posts, white papers, case studies, syndicated content, videos, and more. At the same time, there will also be an increase in budget for content distribution such as earned media and paid media.

 

There are many strategies for effective content marketing, but smart marketers plan and choose only the best ones. Social media and email marketing should work together in order to achieve a significantly increased audience.
