One of the most important considerations for a website is where the site will be hosted. I recommend against a non-managed hosting solution. In most cases the shared hosting packages do not offer the flexibility for the sites unique requirements. Many of these shared hosting packages can be found for around $5 / month, but it is my strong opinion you get what you pay for. In some cases the client is able to manage their own server, but outside of that they are going with out of the box settings that might not be right for their particular needs.
